Computers 'n' Stuff
So this date back in 2025 i had piles of computers, a desktop PC, several screens and stuff like that, home networking, servers and stuff running around the house, i was going with the most annoying way to control my smart switches with a self hosted server and stuff.
mid 2025 my life turns upside down completely and i need to dial back so i can focus in stuff that actually matters to me, like you know, myself and my mental health
so i got rid of everything, i got a Macbook, kept only one of my screens and everything else is gone, no more fancy firewalls, vlans, servers, desktop pcs with linux.
(i guess i have to give the note that i'm not saying that having this stuff in your house is bad or anything, it was just what i did that worked for me)
This did wonders for me, not having to deal with self inflicted network issues, with small fans running 24/7, pfsense, proxmox, vlans, linux
is fucking great

this helped me focus in what i actually cared about it at the moment, to actually have not to worry about the internet going down because something weird happened with the switch, having to search on my phone why my linux decided that nvidia sucks this particular day and crash the graphical ui or shit like that.
and again, i'm not saying it's bad, like running away from stuff that ate time that way was great for me, but i'm not saying that linux or self hosting or home networks are bad.
The current status of things.
Computers are weird now, we have things like AI making an absolutely shit storm of "content" everywhere making the "normal" internet almost unusable, we have hardware that is almost imposible to purchase now because it's too expensive, and to be honest, i personally think that computers are in their most boring era ever currently, i don't see a motivation to mess to much with modern computers or to even care about what is the latest video card or ram standard.
So idk, moving to a laptop, a Mac at that is interesting, i think i never completely left the apple computers, but i did have some empty spaces where i went back to a pc with linux or windows.

but it's the kind of computer i love now, i don't have to care about it to use it, and that is just great, i get why kids these days don't give a shit about file systems and directories, like i wish that was me.
just as a sidenote, apple does a great job in selling you their ecosystem, i'm at the point where i'm looking at iphones for my next phone, so i guess the apple brainwash works great.
The old computers state of things

I love old computers, i really enjoy playing with a crusty old 486 desktop computer or a brittle as fuck macintosh from 1994, i really like that, at this point though, i felt like 2025 was a freeze in regards to old stuff, like i had so much stuff in mind that i lost my way regarding my hobby.
I took that in a positive spin, and got rid of all the stuff i haven't though of in a while, emptied plastic boxes, got rid of stuff i have in my storage unit and things like that.
I still look at my stuff and be like "i really really like that" so i still enjoy it, i totally enjoy it, and i can't wait to acytually have some time to mess with it.
but i also have taking hard choices, selling stuff, trashing another, giving away the rest, i took choices like getting rid of duplicates, projects i never finished, some stuff i never messed with etc.
With a move (to maybe another city?) in the future though, and well being busier than ever doing social stuff and things like that, i been pretty premium in what i actually want to keep, but worry not, because old shit posts, videos and photos will be here for a while, i'm too deep into this shit to leave.
The future.
The future looks minimalist in a way, and i feel like that is what i need, to simplify, to reduce and to finally enjoy what i already have and i will be keeping in the future.
