the smart watch

So my mom gave me her old Apple watch, old is a funny word to say about a watch that still works and does digital electronic stuff like using wifi and properly work in sync with the phone though.

aaanyways before i digress like always.

I don't really like smart watches because phantom vibration, years ago i had a samsung something or other smartwatch and i got so used to feel it when nothing happened, it's pretty annoying, i read somewhere that back in the 90s with pagers people kinda felt the same, specially IT workers, some way shit never changes lol.

I been using it for a couple of weeks now and the watch is nice, it feels solid, the health functionality is nice, like just for shit and giggles i been using the watch while i sleep and it gathers a lot of info that is interesting to see

but i do not care in the long run, like do i really care about my rem sleep or whatever? like not like i can do anything about it other than fill the pretty graphs.

The running tracker is also a good feature, yeah i can track how much i ran and for how long. The calories thing? who cares, does that even mean something? i mean if i burn 400 calories and then drink pepsi that goes all to shit? idk

maybe im being ignorant in these features and how maybe health works itself, but im not a doctor, sue me.

The watch also has features that are really handy, like siri, i can use siri on the car now without yelling, my head unit microphone is missing (i never installed it) so i have to yell for the internal mic to pick up, with the watch i just have to talk normally, handy.

It also unlocks my computer, finds my phone and i can even pay with it that feels insanely like a gimmick, like i got used to pay with my phone, but the watch? why, if im carrying the watch i will probably have my phone, well i use it now because "oh look at me paying with my fucking watch"

I have several casio watches that show time, digital time, maybe the date, and they look insanely cooler, the "retro" factor is way better than the features of the apple watch, but i can't deny that the integration on the whole apple ecosystem works.

it works! 95% of the time, the rest, the watch does weird things, can't copy and paste, cant unlock the laptop, cant recognize what i say idk.

I feel like it's a gimmick, pretty cool one, but still, totally something you can live without.

I really really don't mind having to charge it daily, like the charger is next to the one i use with my phone, i really don't see the big deal, if the thing dies, oh well, go back to check the time in your phone, we have been doing that since 1999.

Anyways, i really really appreciate the gift, i will keep using the watch sometimes because it's the red one and its pretty and combines with some clothes i have, and the "pretty factor" is something i value for watches and stuff.

I have picked way too many calls from it tbh.

anyways,

that's all

i'm a tiger, called kiwa, calling it quits for today, happy monday,

bye.
