Linux
This past Con someone i know approached to me and was like, hey you are using a Mac now, what happened to the whole linux thing?
and yeah, what happened to it?
i guess life got in a way, it has been more than a year since the last time i have dealt with any kind of linux on the desktop™️, i have a VPS server i use for keeping basic presence online and to run stuff like a radio for the Dj collective or whatever.
So back in mid 2025, i had a desktop PC, some sort of ryzen cpu with an nvidia cpu.
because how my life was working before that, i dealt with it, i had some random PC laptop too.
Fedora, debian, whatever, i had a whole homelab too, but that was a thing i already talked before.
So after my life started to get sense again, i had no time to deal with nvidia drivers being pain, dnf updates breaking something, the computer being a desktop i didn't really never cared about it using a lot of power, failing because dust, psu, whatever, no fun tbh.
I had another ssd for just Windows because i wanted to play VR stuff, i spent a lot of time on VR, vrchat, that furry porn game can't remember the name, i mostly used that to dissociate, it worked most of the time.
I moved the computer to another case, gave it to my small brother and got it out of my life, he uses it to play games and stuff now.
I trashed the old monster case with it dvd drive and the floppy with the usb adapter, i gave away the old VR headset (it was one of those Windows mixed reality things, so it was going to die iirc) i wiped the PC laptop and installed windows because i needed to do some work that required it, then it sat there.
Then the M2 macbook came, i been in a on and off relationship with Macs since my childhood, i had a G4 powermac that was my main computer for a good number of years, then some ibooks, then a macbook 2012 that i was really happy to get rid of because it was a hot as fuck device.
The M2 macbook was so fast, so decent and fun to use, i moved mostly no data to it, some music, some videos, and got rid of all the data.
On the PC i had a couple of 4tb hdds i kept, i been slowly deleting those files too, but it's so low priority and they are Ext4 that is kinda annoying to use on the Mac.
The Mac is a fun device to use, i enjoy it because i don't have to think about it, it's not perfect by any means, but the OS is good, fast, the hardware is amazing, the screen and everything seems so integrated, it sold me the experience
and i needed it, i needed to not care about the computer, the os, the drivers, whatever.
and don't get me wrong, the OS is annoying, but not as much as it was fedora on the ryzen nvidia pc.
i don't have to guess if the computer is gonna boot with graphical interface or not.
.
Computer world has changed a lot in a year, mostly related to how people interact, develop, and do shit on it related to AI, hate it or not, it's there and probably if it's a bubble it has some years ahead, even the linux nerd creator is using it and defending it so idk.
I do not think i will be going back to linux on the desk, it's an amazing tool for servers and stuff, and i kinda really miss doing server management related to linux, but that's is not the world that we are here now (i guess that's a why on the old computers and old linux)
I really don't want to care about the deep inner works anymore on my laptop, i guess i won the right for it.
I still love debian 6 on those small alix devices lol, i will never let that specific fun die.
I started using linux when i was 13, with 3 burned cds of redhat 9, the old redhat, not the rhel thing, and then moved over so many different distros, different architectures, the ubuntu cds, debian after getting understanding of what it was, school servers, my self hosted adventures, moving to linux even when it was still painful, rdp was shit, managing windows server was annoying etc, i keep on doing my thing, then running games on linux, then the thing got better, Vr was kinda working even.
so i appreciate it, even when the slop is getting there and idk what will look in the future, i appreciate it and i was there.
Idk what else to say about it
Kiwa.
